Q The statement has been made that understanding evolution is the key to all of the other life sciences. That basic understanding, even though it may not have been formally defined and explained as it has in this course, has had its effects on all of us. Based on your own experience, how has understanding the process of evolution affected your life? Be sure to explain how the event you describe relates to evolutionary theory. (Example - that you can't use: We once owned a Mastiff who was absolutely beautiful (see attached picture), with an awesome temperament and a gentle personality. When we found out he had bad hips, we refused to breed him in order to improve the genetics of the breed. Without understanding the process of evolution, we might have made the problem worse in future generations by breeding him and passing those traits on in his bloodline.) Organic evolution is a fluctuation in the genetic makeup of species in a population as a result of responses to external changes, basically the environment.
